Jana studied natural sciences at the Constantine the Philosopher University in Nitra, where in 2010 after defending her rigorous thesis focused on the identification and prevalence of viral hepatitis, she received the degree of Doctor of Natural Sciences (RNDr.). In the same year, she joined the Lab of Motor Control at the Institute of Normal and Pathological Physiology and began to investigate the postural mechanisms of gait initiation in the elderly and patients with Parkinson’s disease. In 2013, she completed a fellowship in the Balance Disorders Laboratory, Department of Neurology at Oregon Health and Science University (USA). In 2015, she received her PhD. in Normal and Pathological Physiology at the Faculty of Medicine, Comenius University in Bratislava. Her research focuses on the regulation of postural balance and gait in healthy young and elderly populations, as well as in patients with balance disorders and movement deficits, with an emphasis on sensory integration within postural mechanisms. She is the co-investigator of several national and international scientific research projects and the organizer of the International Posture Symposium (www.posture.sk).
